Reading Dump Files

Okay, so your PC crashed. You recorded the error message. You didn't find anything online about the problem. You have asked in the G³ Forum and you still can't get any help. What next? Read the dump files... It's probably already enabled on your PC. If it isn't then you need to enable it and wait for the next crash.

Before attempting the following make sure you read and understand Registry Editing Warning.

The first step would be to disable automatic rebooting on error messages.

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Click Run...
  3. Type regedit and click OK
  4. In the Registry Editor navigate to the following key and open it:

  5. When there, find and right click on AutoReboot
  6. Modify the REG_DWORD value to equal 0 (zero)
  7. Reboot

Now review: How to read the small memory dump files

That should tell you about all you need to know on reading the dump files. If you still have trouble you can copy the results to a text pad and then ask someone in the G³ Forum for help.
