Remove MSN/Passport Information

You're busy minding your own business and all of a sudden you notice that Windows Messenger now remembers your login name even though you told it not to remember it. You do something simple like associate a Passport® with your Windows Account and sure enough, it wants to remember everything it can about you.

Or so the paranoid people think...

Really it's meant to make things easier for you and I tend to leave my Passport identity in there.

However, since I am often asked "How can I remove that *blah blah* Passport information?" — here are the directions on how to remove that *blah blah* Passport information:

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Click Run
  3. Type control userpasswords2
  4. Click the OK button (OR press your Enter key)
  5. In the User Accounts dialog box click the Advanced tab
  6. Click on the Manage Passwords button
  7. Highlight the account(s) you want to delete and click the Remove button
  8. Click the Close button
  9. Back in the User Accounts dialog box Click the OK button
  10. Remove tinfoil hat (optional)
  11. Continue computing normally

Note: You can be really fancy and access that same screen simply by using rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr instead of control userpasswords2 if you'd like.
