XP Run Control Panel Commands

There are a number of Run commands that begin with "control" and they open various things from the Control Panel ("CP"). In order to use them click Start > click on Run... > then type in the command. Or if you want to be sneaky you can just press the WinKey + R and that will bring up the Run dialog box.

Command Opens... Description
control Control Panel Will open the Control Panel in 'Catalog View' or 'Classic View' depending on which it was when last closed
control admintools Administrative Tools
control date/time Date and Time Properties Same effect as double clicking the displayed time in the notification area (a.k.a. - "system tray")
control desktop Display Properties \ Themes
control color Display Properties \ Screen Saver
control folders Folder Options
