Error Opening or Installing 16-bit application on Windows XP SP2
Alright, here's the deal. You have an older game and you want it to work. You've installed Service Pack 2 and now the game is telling you that there's an error when you install it or when you go to play it. The errors vary a bit but are problems with config.nt, command.com, or autoexec.nt normally. The problem is pretty easy to fix...

So you have it fixed now what? Well, keep in mind that XP doesn't really have DOS at all. It wasn't meant to. That's why there's the compatibility mode. If you want a more accurate DOS emulator then you could give DOSBox a try:

The application is free and not the easiest to work with. There is a bit of a learning curve involved but it's worth it in the end. The end results are pretty smooth and trouble-free and the learning curve is not so difficult that you can't grasp it I'm sure. Having used the application once or twice (or more) we at G³ could likely manage to answer a few basic questions about it. Stop by the G³ Forum and ask for some additional assistance if you're having problems.
