Drop Shadows for Desktop Icon Labels

Do the icon labels on your desktop look something like this?

And you want it to look more like this...

If so then this is the fix:

  1. Press the Start button
  2. Click on Run
  3. Type sysdm.cpl and click OK
  4. Click on the "Advanced" tab
  5. In the Performance area click the "Settings" button
  6. Scroll down and select/check the option to "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop"
  7. Click OK (as needed) and wait a few moments...
