Device Transfer Speeds

You might have wondered at some point exactly what the maximum speeds are that you can hope to attain when transferring files to and fro from various devices. I know I was curious. Figuring that you wanted to know my findings (or might at least be curious yourself), sharing them seems the only logical thing to do - so, without further ado, here they are:

Device Speed
USB 1.1   – 1.5 MBytes/sec
USB 2.0   – 60 MBytes/sec
Parallel Port   – 60 MBytes/sec
Serial Port   – 60 MBytes/sec
Firewire   – 12.5 - 50 MBytes/sec

Note that these are maximum speeds – so your mileage may vary.
