WinKey Shortcuts

The term WinKey is the same as Windows Key or Windows Logo Key and refers to the funny looking key on your keyboard that's down near the lower right on most keyboards. It's the one that says something about Start, Windows, or has the Windows logo on it. It's a shortcut key similar to the Function Keys and meant to make your life easier.

Below is a list of the available key combinations. It might not be complete and some of them (like the lock the computer) may be OS-specific. If there are any feel free to to let us know about them.

WinKey + E Open an Explorer window
WinKey + R Open the Run dialog
WinKey + Pause Open the System Properties
WinKey + S Open Search
WinKey + Ctrl + F Search for Computer
WinKey + M Minimizes all open windows
WinKey + Shift + M Undo minimize all open windows
WinKey + Tab Cycle through taskbar program buttons
WinKey + F1 Open Windows Help
WinKey + D Show/Hide Desktop
WinKey + L Lock the Computer

As you can see there are a lot of them. I find that I use the WinKey + R combination the most often and the WinKey + D combination second after that.
